Course Title: Elementary Japanese 1

Lesson 4

Identifying Objects and People

In this lesson, you will learn demonstrative pronouns (これ, それ, あれ and どれ) and various object names found in classrooms and at home. You will also learn to ask and respond to identity questions ("What is it?") and reference questions ( "How do you say X in Japanese?") using the correct demonstrative pronouns (i.e. this, that one near you, and that one over there, etc.). You will also learn to use adjectives (きれいなへや、あたらしいコンピュータ) in describing objects and people. You will also learn adjectival sentences (おもしろいです、きれいです、おもしろくありません、きれいじゃありません) in combination with とても~ ("very") or あまり~ ("[not] very").
