Waiters and waitresses often use polite expressions to customers
even to count items in the order. Instead of saying カレー ひとつ,
they say カレー おひとつ. お is an honorific prefix. This is not translatable
into English. If you just focus on English translation, you
often miss how polite people in business are toward their
customers and clients. |
