Japanese and Chinese online courses can be accessed through GT's T-Square and do not use USG's WebCT Vista. You can skip this page if you are taking Chinese or Japanese online courses. Students in Russian online courses should continue to read below.
WebCT Vista is the name of a Classroom Management System software and nothing to do with Windows Vista operating system.
If you are taking online Russian courses, you access the class content on WebCT Vista on the University System of Georgia server. (This is separate from T-Square at Georgia Tech.) Your WebCT Vista username (=second user ID from us, the same one as your initial user ID) and password (a different one from the initial password) will be emailed to you by your instructor about several days before the semester begins. If you register late, they will be sent to you during the first week of semester.
To access WebCT Vista, follow the steps below. Windows users should use Internet Explorer (IE) 6 or 7. Mac users should use Firefox or Safari (Safari is not officially supported by WebCT Vista but it seems to work with it). When Mac users try to access WebCT Vista, it may detect that your browser is not enabled for Java. Ignore this warning if you are using Mac OS X.
- Go
to https://flang.view.usg.edu (Put your bookmark only at this URL. Do not bookmark the resulting URL that may start with "https://d.view.usg.edu/...")
- Enter your username and password. (First-time users will see a guide page. You can skip this page.)
- On "My WebCT" page, select
your course (e.g., Elemetnary Russian 1,
etc.)
- When finished with your work, click on log out (upper right corner).
If you stay inactive for too long without logging out, WebCT Vista will take you back to the login page OR it will take you to the universities list. If the latter happens, please click on "University System of Georgia Collaborative Programs" to get back to our login page. If Vista still takes you to the universities list after login, quit your browser completely (Close all open browser windows) and relaunch it.

- Browser Analyzer (This site will analyze your browser's readiness to access WebCT Vista.)
- Online Support Center (This site can also be reached by clicking on the Online Support Center link on the WebCT Vista Login page. You need to create your account before receiving support. You receive support by submitting your ticket. If your problem is urgent, you can call OSC HelpDesk (877-708-2910) or you can text-chat with the OSC staff. If they ask your affiliation, mention you belong to the "Foreign Language Collaboratives" group.)
If you suspect you may have username/password issues, please contact Masato Kikuchi (kikuchi@gatech.edu) with the following information:
- Your first name and last name
- The course title you have registered for (e.g., Elementary Russian 1)
If you still have problems after trying the support links above, please contact Masato Kikuchi (kikuchi@gatech.edu) with the following information.
- Your first name and last name
- The course title you have registered for (e.g., Elementary Russian 1)
- Your Operating System and its version (e.g., Windows XP, Mac OS 10.3, etc.)
- Your browser and its version (e.g, IE 6.0)
- Whether or not you have run Browser Analyzer and tried the tips under "Popular Topics" at the Online Support Center.
- Your connection type (e.g., campus LAN, Cable modem, DSL, etc.)
